The Unidad Educativa Monte de los Olivos in Quevedo (Ecuador) is a Christian school, built in 2025 and opened in 2026, that carries out its work in dependence on the Lord and in obedience to His Word. We believe that children are created by God, called to know, serve, and fear Him, and that education is a means through which He shapes and directs young lives. Out of this conviction, the Dutch foundation works together with local Christians to offer children — especially those in vulnerable circumstances — education that is rooted in Scripture, carried by prayer, and directed toward obedience to Christ.
Our identity as a Christian school – Monte de los Olivos has a clearly defined Christian identity. This identity is not merely a part of our program, but forms the heart of our existence and shapes the content and direction of all our teaching and conduct. That is why teaching is carried out by teachers and support staff who are all professing Christians with a good testimony within their local church. They see their work not merely as a profession, but as a calling in which they may serve and guide children in the fear of the Lord.
Biblical-Reformed foundation – Our school has an explicitly Christian character. We base our education on the Bible as the fully trustworthy Word of God and on the teaching of Christ and His apostles. We believe that children live before the face of God, and that upbringing and education cannot be separated from faith and conduct of life. That is why spiritual formation is an essential part of school life: in how we treat one another, in lessons, in discipline, and in daily practice.
Open admission policy with clear conditions – Although the school has a clear Christian identity, we maintain an open admission policy. Children from all backgrounds are welcome. At the same time, we expect parents to fully embrace and respect the school's principles. Parents deliberately choose a school where God's Word is guiding, and we ask them to carry and support that choice with conviction. Only in unity between school and family can a child truly flourish.
Our mission: shaping children before the face of God – We want to teach children and young people in truth and wisdom, form them in Christian character and conduct, and guide them in their spiritual growth. We want to equip them to take their place in family, church, and society, and to be visible as light and salt in Ecuador. We see education as a service to God and to the children He entrusts to us.
Education with heart, conviction, and care – Monte de los Olivos offers preschool, primary, and secondary education, provided by dedicated Christian teachers who see their work as ministry. The school offers personal guidance, pastoral care, and attention to social, emotional, and spiritual development. We strive for a safe, orderly, and loving learning environment in which children are seen, heard, and shaped. In this, we work closely together with parents, who bear the primary responsibility for raising their children.
Cooperation with the Dutch foundation – The Dutch foundation supports the school through sponsorship programs, construction and renovation projects, teacher training, spiritual support, and the development of sustainable education programs. Together we get to see how God opens doors and changes lives.
Why Monte de los Olivos? – We believe that children are a gift from God, that education is a means in His hand, that truth sets free, and that Christ is King over every area of life. Monte de los Olivos is therefore more than a school: it is a place where children learn to live before the face of God, and where hope, faith, and the future come together.

ngg_shortcode_0_placeholderAn Urgent Problem Calls for a Powerful Answer
The children of the “De Olijfberg” project deserve education that truly helps them move forward. At present, they are stuck in the public education system: essential skills such as reading and arithmetic are insufficiently developed, leaving vulnerable students behind without proper guidance. Although the project offers extra support through literacy and math classes, this is only a temporary solution.
In addition, we see the influence of global trends in the teaching materials of public schools, while there are hardly any affordable alternatives for Christian education in Quevedo. This makes it difficult for parents who want to raise their children with biblical values.
An even greater danger lurks in secondary education: the rise of gangs, drug use, and teenage pregnancies, without schools playing an active role in prevention and guidance. As a result, young people end up in difficult situations without the support they need.
Building our own primary school at De Olijfberg is therefore not just a dream, but a necessity. Here, children receive a safe and stimulating learning environment, with education that offers them not only knowledge, but also a solid foundation for their future.
After years of involvement in, and insight into, the educational challenges within the local community, a deep desire has grown within the De Olijfberg project to establish its own Christian primary school. This will become a place where vulnerable children not only receive affordable, quality education, but where biblical values are central and there is active guidance for both children and their parents.

Education Accessible for Every Child!
To ensure that children from low-income families can also benefit from quality Christian education at De Olijfberg, we want to set up a scholarship program.
Tailored financial support
The standard monthly contribution for parents is $70 per month. However, for families who cannot afford this, we offer scholarships that can provide up to an 80% discount, depending on the family's financial situation.
Sponsorship program in the Netherlands
We want to set up a sponsorship program through which people in the Netherlands can directly sponsor a child, so that financial support reaches the families who need it most.
Cooperation with existing organizations
In addition, we are exploring the possibility of aligning the scholarship program with organizations already active in Ecuador, so that we can offer children the best possible support.
Through this program, we can truly make a difference and ensure that education is not dependent on financial means, but is a right for every child. Would you like to help make this vision a reality? We would love to hear your ideas!
