Two years of Christian congregation at De Olijfberg
This week marks a special milestone for the Christian congregation at De Olijfberg: its second anniversary is being celebrated. In Ecuador, it is a valuable tradition within the churches to mark anniversaries, and this congregation too looks back with gratitude on the past years.
As a tangible reminder of this anniversary, a beautiful wooden text plaque was placed today, carefully made by a brother from the congregation. The many hours of work invested in it testify to dedication and faith. The words on the wall, taken from Acts 16: “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household,” form a powerful and lasting message.
This text has accompanied the congregation from the very first mission church, through the second, and now also at De Olijfberg. It is a message that calls to faith while also holding a rich promise. A valuable symbol of trust and hope for the future.
In addition to placing the text, we celebrated this anniversary with a congregation day. The congregation traveled to a familiar place, about an hour’s drive from Quevedo. A group of young people had already traveled there a day earlier and spent the night camping. Today we shared a wonderful day together, in which we not only enjoyed our fellowship with one another but also held a service.
During the service, we broke into small groups to pray for each other’s needs and concerns—a valuable and precious moment of fellowship in faith. Together we sang Ebenezer, Hitherto the Lord Has Helped Us, a song that underscored our gratitude and trust in God’s guidance.
With joy and gratitude, we look back on this special day, and as a congregation we continue building on our faith and our community.
