Looking back on a blessed Vacation Bible Week

Looking back on a blessed Vacation Bible Week

What a wonderful week we have behind us! In April we were able to organize a Vacation Bible Week again, and what a blessing it was to welcome so many children and reflect together on the gospel.

Preparations began well in advance. 150 school packages were put together, and one evening the boys from De Olijfberg worked hard to get everything ready. When the week began, we were completely full with 150 children—and every day more parents showed up wanting to enroll their children. Sadly, we had to disappoint some, but what a joy that so many children were able to take part!

This year we had a special group of volunteers: no fewer than 30 people worked to make this week a success, including 15 young people who were able to contribute as leaders. It was wonderful to see how enthusiastically they gave themselves, which allowed us as the organizing team to take more of a background role than in previous years.

Every day we started with prayer, music, and a puppet show, followed by a Bible story and follow-up activities in five age groups. Of course, there was also room for games and fun. The highlight was the moment when the school packages were handed out—everyone went home grateful and happy.

Easter was central throughout the week, and on the last day Peter closed with an inspiring message about the return of Christ, especially for the parents and children. We pray that the Word that has been sown will bear fruit in their lives.

Thank you to everyone who gave of themselves and prayed along with us! Your involvement makes this work possible.
