Fundación William Carey Established

William Carey Missions has registered a local representation of the foundation in Quevedo, Ecuador: Fundación William Carey. This foundation is primarily active in the provincial city of Quevedo in the Latin American country of Ecuador. The purpose of this local foundation is to meet the social needs of the city's developing neighborhoods through various projects.

Quevedo is located practically in the central region of Ecuador. Ecuador can roughly be divided into three different regions: the coastal region (a tropical area bordering the sea and fairly flat), the mountain region (the Andes mountain range runs from the north to the south of the country and essentially divides it), and the Amazon region (the tropical rainforest that stretches from the mountain ridges into the far interior). The provincial city of Quevedo is located deep within the coastal region, close to the mountain region. Its location is very central within the coastal region.

Quevedo is a city of around 170,000 inhabitants, although the official population figure differs from reality. The outlying neighborhoods, which are often underprivileged areas, include many unregistered residents. Quevedo is the largest city in the province of Los Ríos and lies on the important traffic route between the country's two largest cities: Quito (in the mountain region) and Guayaquil (in the coastal region).
